Vom Kervinhaus NAVHDA Kennel

Owner: Michele Lynn Kervin-Woolbright, Public School Educator, breeder, trainer and judge of versatile hunting dogs. Michele, has chosen the North American Versatile Hunting Dog Association as the organization for her kennel “vomKervinhaus”.Michele Michele, believes this organization is less political than other options and I can assure you she has little tolerance for politics and gossip. Michele is an experienced trainer and has tested her dogs in all of the major tests linked to the German testing system. She was certified as a JGHV judge at the age of twenty while still in college and at a time when few ladies were certified as judges on the international level.

Michele, maintains a superb kennel of German drahthaars and hunting dachshunds, chosen from the lines we have imported over the last twenty years. She registers her dogs and tests them with NAVHDA which is comparable to the German system but modified for the American hunter. Many owners of German registered dogs register and test their dogs with NAVHDA. NAVHDA provides training books, videos and membership packages for their membership. Michele is ably assisted by her immediate family and her three children are deeply involved with her kennel. I guess it is a family tradition.

Oklahoma Dove Hunt

Bubba & Cisco

September 1st begins our new hunting season with Dove and then we move quickly to the early special teal and goose season in mid-September. October 1st is bow season for deer then regular waterfowl, quail, pheasant and deer season soon follows.Searching for a downed bird

We are enjoying one of the best dove populations in years filling our daily bag limits of 15 birds each. I think that equates to 5 shots per bird more or less.

This is an exciting time of the year at vom Kervinshof but this one is very special indeed. Our son has returned home safely from the Middle Eastern conflict and has assumed his family and job responsibilities again. He is the proud father of his new son Tanner born in August and is sporting his new drahthaar pup Timo II (Cisco) vom Kervinshof. Bubba picked "Cisco" last January from Hunter and Ilka's litter, and he has wanted a pup from that breeding for a long time; however, he had other obligations. His spring and summer training program has Cisco ready for duty at 8 months and they have been in the dove fields at daybreak as partners, awaiting that first shot and downed bird. Kisses, Kisses, Kisses!!

When the first bird fell Cisco was sent on a search and retrieve at 60 yards but went on a staunch point when his gifted nose winded the downed bird at 25 yards. He held the point for several minutes until Bubba arrived and commanded fetch. The bird was quickly retrieved to hand and held gently until given the command to release. They were both so excited they could hardly contain themselves as Cisco gently gives his friend, master, and companion wet sloppy kisses.

It is the opinion of us here at vom Kervinshof that these are the real treasures of hunting. Not merely hunting to fill bag limits but the making of memories that will last a lifetime. Good Luck Bubba and Cisco you will have many more rewards in the times to come!
